Discount Calculator

Enter the original price and percent off to see your savings and final price, with optional sales tax.

How it works

Savings = price × discount ÷ 100. Sale price = price − savings. Sales tax, if you add it, is applied to the discounted price, which is how most US stores calculate it.

Example: a $80 item at 25% off saves $20 and costs $60 before tax.

Frequently asked questions

How do I find the sale price?

Multiply the price by the discount percent to get the savings, then subtract that from the original price.

Is sales tax added before or after the discount?

In most US states tax is charged on the discounted price. Check your state's rules if the amount matters.
